Discussing the show, Alankrita Shrivastava said in an announcement,”Bombay Begums is a story about Indian girls whom I hope women in India, and across the world will connect with. The show explores the intricate journey of functioning Indian women who are ambitious for success and power, but have a number of other battles to fight too. It is the narrative of their daily hustle, the narrative of the dreams — occasionally buried, sometimes fulfilled.”
She added,”It is the narrative of glass ceilings shattered, and also of those hearts broken in the process. I expect audiences relate to the characters and find pieces of their own journey reflected in the story. I’m excited and proud that Bombay Begums is arriving on Netflix about the occasion of International Women’s Day.”
